Just the word office implies work but redecorating an office does not have to be strenuous. You can design a functional home office that looks fabulous with just a few simple steps.

Creating a functional place to work but still making it look nice is very possible. You however don’t want to make it too distracting when you go to redecorate your office. The most important thing about a good setup of a home office is an area where you can be productive.

But say you only want a home office area, and you need a few machines to help you out. First off instead of buying a separate fax and copier, you should save space with an all in one device that will print, copy, fax and scan. That will not only save some room in the office area, but will also function for multipurpose. Place a nice area rug under the machine and also one that will start at the edge of your desk. Setting this up properly you can almost create a space that will feel completely private to you even placing a small file cabinet separate from the other items to make it seem even more like a small office.

If you are more concerned with multiple purposes than multiple workspaces a professional, but inviting look is easy to achieve. The traditional Futon has evolved by leaps and bounds since it was first introduced. This piece of furniture can now be found in very professional looks that will not only provide wonderful seating in your office, but will also create comfortable bedding for guests. It is even possible to find Futon chairs that turn into twin size beds. By placing a matching set of couch and two chairs in your office/ guest room you can not only provide comfortable space for staff meetings, but you also create a guest room that will sleep up to four people!

Providing the right type of lighting is very important. If you have only an office it’s a great idea to stick with an overhead light, these will give you better lighting to work by. However, with a multipurpose room you may also want to place in a lamp or two. This will allow a guest to have a softer light that is much more conducive to relaxing. You could also consider a dimmer switch on the overhead lighting too. Just make sure that the lighting is practical for the room you are setting up.

There aren’t many different themes that people like to try for a home office. But again if it’s a multipurpose room you should really keep in mind what sort of theme you want to create. To get a good office setting but still have nice warmth in the room, think about adding in some colorful area rugs. The paint and other accessories in the room should be a pretty neutral color though as not to distract too much during work.

Again the use of an area rug will be helpful. By adding a colorful patterned area rug to a room with neutral colors you immediately add excitement. This forms a focal point in the room that is beautiful, but not distracting. Add flowers in colors found in your area rug and you will create an amazing office that will be functional and beautiful.
