Things To Know About Baby Red Eared Sliders

Baby red eared sliders have been equipped for survival through millions of years of evolution, yet most of them still perish in the wild when they are very young. As such, it is important that you provide the proper environment to help your turtle be as healthy and happy as he can be.

Baby Red Eared Sliders – What to Feed Them

What to feed baby red eared sliders is something you’ll need to know. Your turtle will eat small insects or dried krill along with vegetation such as leafy greens and aquatic plants. The older they get, the more herbivorous they will become. Keeping your turtle’s diet varied is the best way to keep it healthy and make sure it gets all of the vitamins and nutrients that it needs.

Baby Red Eared Sliders – How to House Them

Housing baby red eared sliders can be expensive. An aquarium or tank is the first thing you will need. As a general rule, you should have ten gallons of water for every inch of your turtle. For example, a seven inch turtle would require a seventy gallon tank. Remember that your turtle can grow to 12 to 14 inches when fully mature. As such, you should start with a minimum twenty gallon tank. But realize that your turtle will quickly outgrow that and you’ll need to adjust.

You will also need materials for “land” in your tank. Although red eared sliders are aquatic turtles, they cannot breathe under water and you will need to have a “land” area for them to rest and bask. You will also need heat lamps and a way to clean and filter the water in the tank. If you do not have these, your turtle may become unhealthy or may not live as long a life as it could.

Byron Joseph is a accepted authority in the area of owning baby red eared sliders, and he has owned turtles for over thirty years. Are you looking for the complete, comprehensive information that covers every aspect of owning your turtle? If so, see the information available at www.turtlecaresite.com. You’ll find it is the most complete resource available.

Jurassic park toys came about with the success of the novel turned film during the nineties. The movie narrative revolves around the biological tinkering with genetically recreated dinosaur species. The story begins with a slow tying up of a series of animal attack incidents which cannot be explained all of which occurring in Isla Nublar and Costa Rica.

One of the first species identified as the plot unravels is a three toed lizard like creature who was the primary suspect in the series of animal attacks. Jurassic park toys capture these strange creatures in the variety of toys which the movie released after the movie premiered. A team of paleontologists consisting of a resident and intern was then were invited to an island by a billionaire who owned the company called InGen.

International Genetic Technologies or InGen for short is the main science facility responsible for the genetic experimentation and revival of different dinosaur species. This InGen patriarch created an enclosure esplanade where biological preservation is the main job done but little did the visitors know that they were to expect unbelievable creatures in the enclosure. From the concept of being extinct, the enclosure has developed a way of bringing these monsters back into the modern world; Jurassic park toys aim to deliver similar results in a way that people can be exposed to replicas of these creatures but of course safer versions of the sort.

Upon the group’s arrival on the island, they came across different species of cloned dinosaurs that were sourced through damaged DNA from mosquitoes who sucked up dinosaur blood and got preserved in amber. As the damage has created gaps in the overall genetic code of the mosquito DNA, the facility was working by filling in these gaps with avian, amphibian, and reptilian DNA to complete the code. Population control was regulated by breeding only female dinosaurs and the same concept was applied to the Jurassic park toys where each dinosaur figure will resemble that of only female counterparts per species.

With the initial Jurassic park toys resembling female dinosaurs, males too have been created to reflect the plot in the movie. In the movie, conflict started when the breeding process went beyond the intended plan of the geneticists causing the project to go against what have been initially agreed upon by the people involved. For the well being of everyone on the island, the facility needed to be closed down as they were already running beyond their means.

The enclosure owned a number of dinosaur eggs so these may be seen in some Jurassic park toys most probably in the play sets with the laboratory setting. In the movie, an employee stole some eggs and planned on selling them; he was later blocked by a dinosaur. When the park was closed off and the systems shut down, security barriers were also shut down in the process.

By shutting down the main security system, the park had absolutely zero control when the dinosaurs had the opportunity to roam free. A gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex was the highlight of the first film and Jurassic park toys developed a line for this main character. He caused the most havoc leaving facilities in destruction and people badly injured.

The initial movie ended with people regaining control over the dinosaurs and the island was shut down for good; but of course, new storylines with more exciting scenarios filled up the following films for the franchise. Jurassic park toys increased in numbers with every new character included in each film that followed the first movie. It is easy to find a Jurassic park item for you and your loved ones and it can be assured that each purchase will be well worth it.

This article this article lists 5 tips on making your new bearded dragon a comfortable home. It is very important that you set up your ‘beardies’ home properly before you bring him home.

#1 Tank size

When setting up your bearded dragons home try to make it as close as possible to his natural habitat. The minimum space for an adult bearded dragon should be no less than 36” x 18” x 18”. However 42” x 24” x 20” would be better.

Also when buying a tank for your beardie you should make sure its easy to maintain, keep clean and you should be able to reach your dragon easily when you want to play with him.

Think carefully about where you are going to locate the tank. Beardies like to see things happening around them but too much activity can cause them stress. And make sure you put the tank is in a spot that is not too hot- in direct sunlight, or not too cold- beside an air con unit.

#2 Essential tank items

All items should be easy to clean and maintain. Also make sure they are secure, can’t come loose or tip over and injure the little critter.

Tank essentials include a food dish, something for your beardie to climb and perch on and a ‘hideaway box’ so he can hide away when he feels stressed.

#3 Your beardies bedding

Try to make your bearded dragons home as natural as possible. Sand is fine also reptile carpets are excellent, but pricey. If you are on a tight budget non-adhesive shelf liner or newspaper-will do.

#4 Tank heating

Beardies native home is Australia where he depends on the sun to heat his body. Hence a ‘basking lamp’ is essential. Also if the temperature in your home drops below 65F at night you will want additional heating this could be a heater under the tank.

But you should not have an even temperature throughout the tank as your beardie needs hot (90-95F), cool (75-85F) and basking (100F) heat. So tank thermometers are vital.

#5 Lighting

Your beardie is active during the day and needs both Ultra Violet-A and Ultra Violet-B rays for his health. Ultra Violet-A rays are provided with the ‘basking lights’. And in his natural environment your dragon would get his Ultra Violet-B rays from the sun. So its a good idea to expose him to natural sunlight from time to time. One hour of sun is worth eighteen hours of tank light.

Finally check all lights regularly and replace them every 6 months (they lose their Ultra Violet concentration after that), even if they still seem to work okay.

So thats it. The essentials you need to provide a happy home for your Bearded Dragon.

I think everyone wants dinosaur bedding. Don’t you agree? Oh, so you’re not looking to make your own, personal dinosaur bed? That’s sad. Why aren’t more adults into dinosaurs? There’s no better way to wake up feeling like a kid than to look down and see dinosaur bedsheets that show you creatures that are, in comparison, very old. Well, it might work that way, or you might just wake up feeling totally silly every morning. You never know.

Lots Of Dinosaur Twin Bedding

Dinosaur twin bedding is probably the most prevalent size of bedding that have dinosaurs on them. This is for obvious reasons, as kids typically don’t have queen or king sized beds. I’m sure there are some king or queen sized bedding sets with dinosaurs on them, but good luck finding them.

Dinosaur Toddler Bedding Is Available Too

Generally people purchase dinosaur bedding for boys that are already old enough to be carrying around toy dinosaurs, but some people get in on the whole pre-historic thing a bit earlier with dinosaur toddler bedding. This may end up being a poor investment though as the kid may not even like dinosaurs as he grows up.

Dinosaur Baby Bedding

There’s even dinosaur baby bedding available, though I suspect that since there’s no way a baby could possibly know what a dinosaur is, the look is probably more for the parents than the kid. I doubt anyone buys dinosaur crib bedding thinking that the kid is going to love it…they buy it thinking how cool it’s going to look. One exception could be if someone had built an entire nursery around a dinosaur theme that they intended to later turn into a bedroom as the kid got older. Then I suppose it would only make sense to get dinosaur nursery bedding.

Finding Dinosaurs Bedding

When you first start looking for kids bedding, dinosaurs probably won’t jump out at you. Maybe it’s because it’s been a while since Jurassic Park was really popular, I don’t know, but finding a dinosaur bedding set can actually be a bit of a pain. In all honesty, it’s probably easier, and possibly cheaper to just grab a dinosaur bed in a bag from some online store as beds in bags (bag-beds?) are typically fairly cheap to ship, being relatively lightweight and square-ish. If you are able to find dinosaurs bedding locally, you might have to settle on mixing and matching which can end up looking just plain weird. A dinosaur bed sheet with a vicious looking T-Rex covered by a Barney comforter is would be odd looking, and might be a bit scary, to say the least.

Who doesn’t want dinosaur bedding? Oh, you, fair reader? Wait, so you’re saying that you’re looking for dinosaur kids bedding instead of trying to make your own dinosaur bed? For shame! What’s wrong with this world that adults don’t like dinosaurs? How better to wake up feeling young than with dinosaur bedsheets that say “This is how old you’re not.” Either that or you’d just end up feeling goofy every day. I’m not here to judge.

Dinosaur Twin Bedding Is Easy To Find

The most prevalent size of dinosaur bedding is going to be dinosaur twin bedding. The reasons are obvious. How many kids do you know have a king or queen sized bed? Some may, but they’re probably usually hand-me-downs that come complete with their own bed sets.

Dinosaur Toddler Bedding, Too

Even earlier in life, some parents buy dinosaur toddler bedding. The reason for buying expensive bedding for a toddler that doesn’t even know what a dinosaur is sort of eludes me, though. Maybe I’m just weird.

Dinosaur Baby Bedding

Also, believe it or not, there’s also dinosaur baby bedding available. I suspect the parents think it will look cool, as I don’t think a baby really knows the difference. It may make a bit more sense, though, if it was a nursery built around a dinosaur theme that was to be turned into a bedroom later on. Dinosaur nursery bedding would make a lot of sense, in that case.

Finding Dinosaurs Bedding

While checking out kids bedding, dinosaurs won’t always be the first thing you notice. It could be because Jurassic Park is kind of old now, but it can be a bit difficult at times to find a dinosaur bedding set. It’s probably easier to just buy a dinosaur bed in a bag online since they usually ship pretty cheaply as they’re pretty light. If you’re okay with a weird mix of bedding, then you may want to try getting some dinosaur bedding locally. However, you might get stuck with a Barney the dinosaur bed sheet under a purely evil looking Pterodactyl, and that would just be odd.

While raising a snake can be very rewarding, you must understand what responsibilities go into caring for a snake. You have to make sure that a pet snake is right for you and your family and that you have the facilities and time needed to be able to look after the snake. Since snakes require a carefully controlled climate and specific diet, the attention you put towards your snake could be considerate.

First it is good to know what type of snake you are buying to know what the best care for the snake is. You wouldn’t want to purchase a snake without understanding such things as snake skin shedding or eating live prey. There are many different types of snakes and all of them require different care, including the heat and humidity in their tank, their diet and the cage size. Doing your homework before buying a snake is definitely recommended, as care responsibilities vary between breeds. For instance, ball pythons may require different care than coral snakes. Once you know what type of snake you want to buy it will be easier for you to take care of the snake.

Your goal when setting up your snake’s home is to make the setting as authentic to his natural habitat as possible. It isn’t wise to assume environment settings, such as a jungle-like atmosphere, as not all snakes are conditioned for that stereotypical temperature. Some snakes are accustomed to hot weather, while others are much more suited to cooler temperatures. Again, it’s all a matter of doing your homework.

Snakes are very primal in their nature, and there is no such thing as a fully domesticated snake. That’s why it’s important that you only feed your snake the food that it would naturally hunt in the wild. When faced with the option of live or pre-killed prey, it is a matter that you will have to decide upon yourself. Some snakes simply will not touch pre-killed prey, while others can learn to adapt to it. Feeding a snake live prey is definitely something you should prepare yourself for in the event that your snake refuses pre-killed prey. If you are able to use pre-killed prey, it is very important that you preserve the food either-usually in the refrigerator-sealed away from your family’s food.

You must also remember to keep your snake very well hydrated. You can achieve this by leaving a small bowl of water in the cage so that the snake can drink when it wants to. Also you have to keep a routine check on your snake to make sure that it does not catch any illnesses or that it is injured in any way.

If you’ve decided that you’re definitely prepared for snake-care responsibilities, you can find pet snakes for sale in your local pet shop, on the Internet, or in the classified ads section of your local newspaper.

In the United States, each year an average of 8,000 people receive snake bites from venomous snakes. Some of these people are bitten from the result of not being able to identify the snake, while some others are bitten for the result of identifying the snake incorrectly and getting close to it thinking that it is safe to do so. Even the ‘harmless’, non-venomous snakes can cause a severe infection or an allergic reaction in many people.

If ever bitten by a venomous snake, most doctors give you antivenin, an antidote to cure snake bites, to treat a serious snake bite. Each antivenin is created in a horse’s blood serum when the horse is injected with snake venom. So they won’t just give you any snake venom, for if it is not from the right kind of snake it can be like giving you poison. They will give you the venom for the kind of snake that bit you. So what if you don’t know what kind of snake bit you? Well they normally have ways of finding that out, by the description of the snake or from the symptoms you have of the venom, but not all the time. For this reason it would be very useful to know your snakes.

For those who live on or near woody lands, swamps, or any source of water, it would be very good to know your snakes backwards and forward. Even the people who hunt, fish, hike, camp, and do other outdoor things. Knowing your snakes is really important. If you are any of these people above then take the time to learn all the snakes in your area or at least learn the basic features to tell the venomous and the non-venomous apart. For the one’s that don’t won’t to take the time at all, when you see a snake, do like some people would do and just run as fast as you can. This may save you from being bitten.

All you you really have to know about snakes to identify them is listed below:

1. body length – this is can be very useful if the snake is fully grown

2. body shape- this is a very effective way of identifying most snakes especially water snakes and water moccasins

3. head & neck shape – this is can be used to identify any snake and some times tell the venomous apart from the non-venomous

4. color & pattern – very effective to identify a snake with, it can be hard if the snake is shedding its skin or if the snake is a small snake

5. scale texture – if you can see the scales this can be useful, but you may have to get closer to the see to see it. I don’t recommend this way

6. eye pupil shape- this is probably the best way to tell the venomous and non-venomous snakes apart. If you can’t do this without getting close then forget this method

Now to summarize all I have written in a few words, KNOW YOUR SNAKES.

Copperhead snakes are the snakes that cause the nastiest and most frequent snake-bite problems in the United States. The copperhead can be distinguished by its stout shape and its neck, which is distinct from the body as well as by its pale cross-band tan pattern that gets darker in the middle and on the sides.

Copperhead snakes have pale bellies, which makes it look very similar to its background, but their colourisation also be whitish sometimes. There are obvious spots or pits on the head of the copperhead snake that appear like tiny dark specks. There is also a rather vague stripe on its head behind its eyes; less prominent on the top, the stripe gets a lot darker towards the sides of the snake’s head.

Copperhead snakes live in all sorts of habitats: you can find them under rocks, in woods and on river banks or in areas around ponds. A specimen will choose its habitat depending on the predominant prey, as copperhead snakes feed on birds, frogs, mice, cicadas, caterpillars and almost any other small animal they manage to hunt.

The most usual hidey-holes for copperhead snakes, wood piles, stone slabs, walls, debris and abandoned or ruined buildings are the most common, which explains why people come across copperheads so often in such areas. The active months of the year for copperhead snakes are in the spring and summer for as long as the weather stays warm. After that they go into hibernation.

Copperhead snakes use the dens in which they spend the winter year after year and usually there are large numbers of other individuals in hibernation together. In summer time when it is too hot outside, the copperhead will stay in the shade during the day and hunt at night. On lovely warm days, this snake will lie in the sun on rocks or wood debris. The young of copperhead snakes are born live and are not hatched; their number ranges between one and fourteen, with the mating period extending ’till mid autumn.

The bites of copperhead snakes must have immediate medical care since they are not only very painful but they may also lead to permanent scarring and tissue loss. Avoid copperhead snakes when you come across them, since many people get bitten when trying to kill or handle them.

Snakes will not harm you unless they sense danger, when you will see how fiercely they can defend themselves. Statistics indicate that copperhead snakes are the most frequent life threateners in the US, because these snakes attack quite out of the blue without sending any warning signals like other species do.

Animal lovers simply love to have animals around them. They do not mind whether it is a dog, or a cat or a horse or even a python. Though most people have dogs and cats as domestic pets, it is not unusual to have guinea pigs or royal python as pets. A website www.ipetshome.com deals with articles in which advice is given on handling pets.

One of the posts on this website states categorically that royal pythons make good pets as they are cute, gentle and lovable. They can be as long as 1.5 meters and need vivariums or glass tanks or even plastic containers to live. They also need something to cling to or to hide. Hence a python keeper should ensure that his pet’s house has a tree branch and some chips for the python to be comfortable. It needs fresh water to drink and rats and mice to eat. Also, when it molts, which can be found out by observing its eyes that have a thin milky film, it should be helped by giving it a gentle warm bath.

Horses are pets for some people. You should have adequate place to house the horse. Its hoofs should be checked, cleaned and checked for bruises or cuts. A brush is used to keep the horse’s coat shining and there are different types of brushes, to remove the mud, to bring back the shine and to keep it neat and clean. A sponge is used to clean the eyes and parts around them, nose and other parts. Proper grooming keeps the horse physically and mentally well and it makes a bond with the owner.

Guinea pigs are small, well mannered and cute. Many people keep them as pets. They can be kept at home in a hutch. The hutch should have flooring which is comfortable and which can soak urine. Guinea pigs need proper bowls and water bottles to eat and drink. They also need toys to play and regular outings for exercise.

Training puppies is an art. A well trained puppy grows up happy and normal. To begin with, a puppy should always be called by its name. He should be taught how to obey, to fetch and to sit and to behave himself properly. He should be rewarded if he performs well. He needs regular check ups and inoculations, medical tests, good food and water and exercise to keep him healthy and well.

There are many dog contests these days. Entering him for a contest will make him social and learn new tricks. There are puppy classes in which he can be enrolled. Above all a puppy needs love, patience and time.

Cats have built in knowledge of how to take care of themselves. They are quite independent but they still need their owners to provide safety, health care, comfortable shelter, love, food and water. Spaying or neutering the cat helps control their population. It should have regular checkups with the vet. Cats love to stay at home and they should not be allowed to go out for long periods. Registering cats is important so that it gets an ID tag which will ensure its safe return should it get lost.

This website has plenty of posts which make good reading. Animal lovers simply love this website and they can also write or post their comments.
